یادوں کا جشن

A Life Set Down in Urdu

Yaadon ka Jashn is the autobiography of Kanwar Mohinder Singh ‘Sahar’ Bedi — a prose account of a life shaped by Partition, friendship, faith, family and a long apprenticeship to the Urdu literary tradition. Written in Sahar’s own hand, it carries the cadence of conversation: episodes, portraits, and reflections, gathered across decades.

To read these memoirs in the original is to hear Sahar speak: the warmth, the wit, the long silences between recollections, all preserved in the language in which they were first lived.

Hindi and English editions are listed in the tabs above for readers who do not read the Urdu script.

A Celebration of Memories

A Celebration of Memories is the English translation of Yaadon ka Jashn — the autobiographical prose of Kanwar Mohinder Singh ‘Sahar’ Bedi. It carries the reader through the landscapes of his life: the early years in undivided Punjab, the rupture of Partition, the long literary friendships, the gatherings of poets and patrons, and the quiet moments of faith and reflection that ran through it all.

Translated by Kamna Prasad with an introduction by Ashwajit Singh, the English edition seeks to keep the warmth and unhurried voice of the original intact — so that readers without Urdu can meet Sahar as his contemporaries did: as a memoirist, raconteur and witness to a vanished world.

The book is published in print and available on Amazon. A review of the English edition is included below.
